General Information
Began his training in psychiatry in 1977. From 1985 to 2018, he was a consultant psychiatrist with the NHS — National Health Service in Scotland, and more recently has worked part-time as a specialist in trauma psychotherapy.
Dr. Corrigan now has a private practice in Glasgow and specializes in complex trauma and dissociative disorders. He is a Fellow of the Royal College of Psychiatrists (FRCPsych) and a member of the General Medical Council (GMC).
He is an accredited specialist practitioner and consultant with the EMDR Association (Europe) (Approved Consultant), completed training in Sensorimotor Psychotherapy for Trauma in 2010, and was previously approved as a supervisor and trainer in the Comprehensive Resource Model (CRM) for the treatment of complex trauma disorders.
Throughout his more than 30-year career as a consultant psychiatrist in the National Health Service in Scotland (NHS), Frank combined his extensive clinical experience with research into the neurobiology of trauma and its impact on major mental disorders.
His research focused on the relationship between affective neurobiology and the science of healing, which led to the development of the Deep Brain Reorienting (DBR)® method.
This new and innovative psychotherapeutic approach emphasizes the importance of tracking the characteristic neurophysiological sequence embedded in the “deep brain” systems.
One of the most unique aspects of DBR as a trauma-focused therapy is the embodiment of a natural healing process that is aligned with the evolutionary development of the brain and nervous system.
