Her research lies at the intersection of embryology, prenatal difficulties, and perinatal mental health, with a particular focus on the neurobiology of early life shock, pre-attachment trauma, and the phenomenon of “the painful presence of absence”.

Jessica Christie-Sands is a Chartered Psychologist (HCPC), Chartered Scientist (CSci), and Associate Fellow of the British Psychological Society (AFBPsS).
She is an EMDR Europe Approved Consultant, a Certified Advanced Sensorimotor Psychotherapist, as well as a Certified Neurosequential Model of Therapeutics (NMT) and Neurosequential Model of Education (NME) practitioner.
Her current research interests lie at the intersection of embryology, prenatal difficulties, and perinatal mental health, with a particular focus on the neurobiology of early life shock and trauma occurring before the formation of attachment.
She is also the Director of DBR Training and has worked closely with Dr. Frank Corrigan, the founder and developer of DBR, from the very beginning.
Ms. Jessica is a co-author of the article “An innate brainstem self-other system involving orienting, affective responding, and polyvalent relational seeking: Some clinical implications for a ‘Deep Brain Reorienting’ trauma psychotherapy approach”, which was published in the journal Medical Hypotheses in 2019.
She is also a co-author, together with Frank Corrigan and Hannah Young, of the book “Deep Brain Reorienting: Understanding the Neurobiology of Trauma, Attachment Trauma and DBR Psychotherapy”.
Work Within DBR
She is the Director of DBR Training and has worked closely with Dr. Frank Corrigan — the founder and developer of the method — from the very beginning.
